Testimonials
Photography
Ruth fell in love with photography when she was twelve. She had her own darkroom at home, where she developed her films and watched images slowly emerge from the darkness. As a child, she explored her neighborhood and town with a camera in hand; today, she travels the world with the same curiosity.
Her photographs are of people, places and beasts — of lives, landscapes, expressions, encounters and unexpected details. She is drawn to the fragility of passing moments: a gesture, a glance, a meeting of light and shadow, or a brief scene that exists only for an instant before disappearing.
Photography allows Ruth to preserve these moments without taking away their mystery. It is her way of observing the world as it is lived, inhabited and briefly revealed.
Her new photography book, Human Matter, will be published soon.
